Autonomy has been described in this study as a human right, which should be given to everyone, regardless of who you are and what conditions you are in. It is also a right to receive help if you cannot express this autonomy to the fullest by your own means. This right is expressed in the law for some support and service for some disabled individuals.

I found out that there are a few elements that either support or countervail the individual’s autonomy. Knowledge and the individual’s right to say no are mentioned as two strong elements that supports the autonomy and staffs attitudes to reorganization and relative’s involvement was mentioned as elements that countervail the work with autonomy. From these elements the section managers develops strategies to either promote or counteract these elements to respect the individuals autonomy. (Less)
