The analysis is based on Pierre Bourdieu's theory about social fields and Barbara Herrnstein Smiths' theory about value and valuation. Through the study of Arbetaren between 2015 and to the newspaper's digital transformation during spring 2016, I have identified different themes and categories that feature in literary criticism, book tips and articles about books. These themes have the functions to create positive effects for literary works as well as authors. The most explicit theme is an overall theme that I called Resistance, which I divided in to two different sub themes called Feministic and Sexual Political Resistance and The Class Conflict as an Act of Value. An other theme that figure in the essay is the one I name Comradeship and Organisation as Producers of Literary Value. (Less)
