Modularization of mechanics for airfield solutions
(2016) MMK920 20161Innovation
- Abstract
- In ADB Safegate's airfield lighting product portfolio, two sizes of LED inset luminaires consist of similar internal components with different design. This project has investigated the possibilities to find generic design solutions for the internal components to fit both product sizes. By using modularized components the company will decrease the indirect costs of the product, for instance cost for stockholding and maintenance. A final design concept is developed with high mechanical strength to meet the international standards for airfield lighting fixtures, as well as a high degree of modularization and great return on investment.
