- The aim of this qualitative study is to investigate why Swedish social workers, who has taken the advanced course “Social work with children and youths”, choose not to work with the exercise of public authority with children and youths within Social Services.
Our findings show us that the eight social workers we have interviewed choose not to work with the exercise of public authority with children and youths within Social Services because of bad working environment, such as high workload, high employee turnover, more paperwork than client meetings, combined with psychologically stressful work and low salaries. But also because of the wide workfield, that enables social workers to work in other fields. Our respondents shared ideas of...
