The employees we interviewed came from two different workplaces and cities and were chosen as a convenience sample. The interviews were semi-structured. Analyzing the data, we discovered that the dehumanization theory was applicable in the sense that it helped point out aspects of the information the employees shared that can be said to have positive and/or negative effects on the new employees’ view on the user. At the same time it became evident that important aspects of the function of different kinds of prior knowledge got lost when applying the theory. The conclusion of the study is that the theory needs to consider these aspects in order to function as a suitable analytical model. (Less)
