- Syftet med det här arbetet är att enligt den aktuella forskningen kartlägga de sociala riskfaktorerna som kan leda till självmord och att utifrån ett sociologiskt perspektiv diskutera vilka strukturella samhällsförändringar som kan förhindra att människor vill begå självmord. Tre frågeställningar ska besvaras: 1) vilka sociala riskfaktorer finns för självmord, enligt den aktuella forskningen, 2) hur ser det förebyggande arbetet ut idag i Sverige och 3) vilka strukturella samhällsförändringar skulle krävas för att förebygga socialt och kulturellt betingad självmord? - Syftet med det här arbetet är att enligt den aktuella forskningen kartlägga de sociala riskfaktorerna som kan leda till självmord och att utifrån ett sociologiskt perspektiv diskutera vilka strukturella samhällsförändringar som kan förhindra att människor vill begå självmord. Tre frågeställningar ska besvaras: 1) vilka sociala riskfaktorer finns för självmord, enligt den aktuella forskningen, 2) hur ser det förebyggande arbetet ut idag i Sverige och 3) vilka strukturella samhällsförändringar skulle krävas för att förebygga socialt och kulturellt betingad självmord? En kvalitativ kunskapsöversiktsstudie av relevant forskningslitteratur har genomförts. Studierna har sorterats i olika kategorier såsom ålder, kön och sexualitet, övergrepp och mobbning, alkohol och missbruk, arbetssituation samt civilstånd. Dessutom har Sveriges nationella handlingsprogram för suicidprevention studerats samt projektledaren för Folkhälsomyndighetens samordningsuppdrag för självmordsprevention intervjuats. Uppsatsens huvudsakliga teoretiska perspektiv är Durkheims sociologiska självmordsteori. Uppsatsen fokuserar på utvecklingen och vår förståelse av de sociala och kulturella betingelserna av självmord vilket kan ge nya insikter om självmord som ett socialt fenomen. (Less)

- The aim of this essay is to identify, according to the current research, the social risk factors that can lead to suicide, and from a sociological perspective discuss what structural changes in society are necessary to prevent people from committing suicide. The research questions that will be addressed are 1) which social risk factors are there for suicide, according to the current research, 2) what preventive work is done in Sweden today, and 3) what kind of structural changes would be required in order to prevent socially and culturally conditioned suicide. In order to respond to these issues a qualitative literature review has been carried out, based on the relevant research literature. On the basis of the research results the studies has been placed in different categories as age, gender and sexuality, abuse and harassment, alcohol and misuse, working situation and marital status. Moreover, Sweden’s national action program for suicide prevention has been studied and the project manager for the coordination commission for suicide prevention at The Public Health Agency of Sweden has been interviewed. The essay’s main theoretical perspective is Durkheim’s theory of suicide. The essay focuses on the development and our understanding of the social and cultural conditions of suicide, which can give new understandings about suicide as a social phenomenon. (Less)
