The purpose of the essay is to discuss how unisex fashion may be influenced by binary fashion, but also how unisex fashion can influence the look of gender. The result of the essay is that even though unisex fashion tries to erase gender differences and make an absolute gender-neutral fashion form it fails because of its inspiration from binary fashion, where the masculine elements are ranked higher than the feminine ones. So is also the case for the unisex fashion, which a majority of times has a masculine look. With these masculine attributes the unisex fashion contribute to the idea of masculine fashion as neutral clothing and masculinity as a neutral gender, while feminine fashion and gender are seen as different and non-neutral.
