Abstract
Facebook is a global phenomenon with only a few previous studies. This study has therefore with the help from Robert A. A combination of evaluation analysis and normative analysis have been used to study some of the different functions of Facebook, for example the filter phenomena and how Facebook is handling the personal information of their users.
The result was not clear since one of the criterions revealed that Facebook support the democratic standards while two other criterions showed that Facebook is violating the democratic standards. The three remaining criterions didn’t show any clear result but was instead a mix of violation and support depending on the observer’s perspective. The conclusion is that Facebook is violating the democratic standards. (Less)
