- Abstract
- This study examines the civil-military relations in Turkey during 1997-2016. The aim is to analyze the change in relations with the help of Rebecca Schiffs Concordance theory. It uses the method of process tracing to analyze the factors that, according to the concordance theory, explain different patterns in civil-military relations. Furthermore, given Turkey’s geographical position, the region’s instability, their membership in NATO and the membership process to EU it is argued that the influence of the outside world should be considered as a continuous factor when applying the given theory.
