A qualitative content analysis from 30 different news articles discussing the siege of Aleppo during the last months of 2016 detected four different news frames. Comparing the two news organizations, the study argues that RT, with its connection to the Russian state, framed the events in line with how the Russian state sees the conflict in general. This while the American news channel CNN has a slightly more varied approach to framing the siege, focusing on civilian casualties and geopolitics. (Less)
