Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the experience of the relationship between municipally granted contact persons and their users (65+). The questions asked were how the users and their contact persons describe the relationship to each other, what the relationship with the contact person has meant and what it means to the user, and how the contact person describes the meaning of the relationship and what it has led to. Three contact persons and their users were interviewed separately. The analysis was made with an abductive approach and the material was analyzed using the exchange theory, social capital and the social network theory. The conclusion of this study was that the relationship between the contact persons and their users is... (More)
The aim of this study was to examine the experience of the relationship between municipally granted contact persons and their users (65+). The conclusion of this study was that the relationship between the contact persons and their users is complex, due to the fact that it is in the border between being one-way with public features, on the other hand reciprocal and private. Though, in the conversation with the respondents it was apparent that the intervention had led to positive outcomes described as friendship and less feelings of loneliness among others, for most users and their contact persons. Another conclusion based on the empirical evidence of this study, is that similarity and personal chemistry seems to be crucial in developing beneficial and reciprocal relationships. (Less)
