Six categories were identified and were central when it came to young people's experiences of these concepts, "Swedishness" we and them, the environment, racism, ethnicity and identity. We used an intersectional perspective and postcolonial theory when we analyzed our material. Our conclusions were that the term "Swedishness" have not made progress in line with the social development of migration the past decades, which resulted in the exclusion of this group from the category Swedes even though they were born in Sweden. The consequences of this matter was that the interview participants did not feel affinity with ethnic Swedes, which has affected their sense of alienation. (Less)
