- I denna studie undersöktes sambanden mellan internaliserat stigma och upplevd diskriminering hos före detta kriminella i Sverige samt undersöka sambanden mellan deras upplevda diskriminering och återfallsfrekvens. Detta med syfte att öka förståelsen för samhällets roll i före detta kriminellas återanpassningsprocess. Deltagarna svarade på en enkät där de självskattade grad av self-stigma, upplevd diskriminering samt antal fängelsevistelser. Antalet deltagare i studien var 23 personer som alla suttit i fängelset vid minst ett tillfälle. Samma upplevelse visade även en signifikant korrelation med återfallsfrekvens under de senaste fem åren. Trots dessa samband bör man vara försiktig med att dra några säkra slutsatser baserat på våra resultat. Eftersom det här är den första studien i Sverige som undersöker dessa samband, finns det ett omfattande behov av vidare forskning inom det här området. (Less)

Despite these findings one ought to be cautious drawing confident conclusions based on our results.
