- The aim of this study is to explore the importance of a diagnosis when it comes to gaming addiction. The study is based on the professionals perspective, which was done by interviewing those working with gaming addiction and similar behavioral issues. The empirical material is analysed from a social constructive perspective to shed light upon how gaming addiction has come to be defined in different ways and what role a diagnosis can mean for the status of gaming addiction. Studies from around the world show that in some countries it is a problem taken seriously, including one country having a governmental treatment plan to address the issue.
