- Abstract
- This essay analyses the articles written by the female magazine Frida through a qualitative content analysis. The aim of this study has been to examine how the magazine suggests that young women should be in relation to successful love relationships. Our theoretical framework consists of Giddens’ analysis of modern love and Butler’s concept of the heterosexual matrix. Through our analysis we found that the magazine implicitly and explicitly suggested that the woman should be adaptable and interchangeable depending on the situation and person. Another finding was that the woman was produced by the magazine to have a self-wish and dream of creating a ”we”, that is, marrying and creating a family, and that this ”we” was linked to success and...
