By analyzing the textual presentation of the authors the main objective is to answer these questions: are there any reoccurring aspects in the presentations? Can you tell that the authors write for young adults? Are there any differences or similarities in how the male and female authors are presented?
A qualitative method was used to analyze the textual presentation in order to answer the questions above. Different aspects frequently appeared in the presentations, such as the author writing the presentation themselves. Other aspects were that the publisher conveyed that the author had won a literary prize, that their books had been translated into other languages, that their books had sold well and that the author was highly educated.
The results of this thesis is that while the authors write for young adults, the presentation on the publishers’ website is not directed at the target audience. It is most likely directed at an older audience; the parents or the new, older readers of young adult books. (Less)
