Abstract
Cloud is used more than ever before, and the trend seems to continue as more and more organizations choose to use cloud services such as database, storage, computing, or web servers. As more organizations choose cloud, the question of which cloud platform that best suits their needs is more relevant than ever. Within this thesis, the four largest cloud platforms have been evaluated to give future and current stakeholders an idea of what the market looks like. To compare cloud platforms, the thesis evaluated technical and economic criteria. The thesis also examined how companies prioritize these criteria based on their use of cloud. The companies responded to a survey in which they prioritized the technical and economic criteria. After examining the four largest cloud platforms, with regards to the criteria, it became clear that the differences that exist are negligible. Outwards functionality is usually the same, since several services such as database, storage and calculation are ultimately very similar. The cloud platforms differ for some criteria such as price model, certificate and response time. For these criteria, it is possible to recommend a cloud platform. It is an exciting market that continues to grow and the competition is getting harder every year. As market shares are leveling out, the competition between cloud platforms will increase and the differences between platforms will decrease further, which could lead to better services and prices, regardless of the chosen platform.
