Purpose: To create a conceptual framework for defining requirements for supplier qualification in terms of certificates and product compliance statements, and from these develop a process workflow for the case company, which will allow for all requirements to be fulfilled and validated. Ultimately, this will ensure legal compliance within the organisation and help mitigate the risks of supplier selection and supplier management.

Problem:
The study aims to answer three research questions:
• Who are the main stakeholders of concern regarding supplier compliance?
• How can stakeholder compliance demands be systematically codified?
• How can a standardised process, which allows for supplier compliance and internal transparency, be illustrated and communicated?
Method: The case study uses triangulation as method for research, mainly through documentation and interviews of a prolonged semi-structured design. The method of analysis used is threefold; stakeholder mapping, morphological codification and lastly business process model notation (BPMN), for the process illustration.
Conclusion: The key stakeholders in the supplier compliance process are governments, customers, suppliers, the family trust and the employees who work directly with supply as well as management. The study proposes to group the stakeholder demands in five types: those regarding the supplier profile, the terms of the partnering relationship, product content statements, product shipping and product approval. To handle such requirements, the process defined through BPMN should be used for the training of supply managers and communicated to all involved internal parties. To keep the process valid it needs to be continuously maintained and up to date with current stakeholder demands. (Less)
