Abstract
Natural light brings a sense of presence to the physical environment. The interaction between natural light and form puts us in connection with place in a way that can not be simulated or replaced with artificial light. This relationship has fascinated and engaged architects of all times, you could claim that the question of light and form lies at the core of architecture.

It is hard to work with natural light as an architect, both because it is very three dimensional in its character but also because it is in constant motion over periods of time which are hard to survey in a design process. Nonetheless it is important to try because as form is established light is also established.

It is hard to work with natural light as an architect, both because it is very three dimensional in its character but also because it is in constant motion over periods of time which are hard to survey in a design process. Nonetheless it is important to try because as form is established light is also established.

This thesis work is investigating possibilities to survey and utilize natural light as a point of departure in an architectural design process. Focus is on natural light that can be labelled as emotional light, that is, light which is dynamic and space defining. As method for the investigation I have used parametric software.

The result is a search for a possible method, and is presented as a series of short investigations of how digital tools could be used to deal with the question of emotional light and form. (Less)
