The hypothesis is examined using regression analysis. The result of the bivariate analysis suggests that a link between representation and party membership can be seen. However, when including control variables (educational attainment and labor force participation rate) this link disappears. Consequently, no significant effect of representation on the political participation of young women can be seen, and no support for the role model effect found in previous studies can be found in this study.
