- Abstract
- The aim of this study has been to investigate how Schofield and Beek’s five caregiving dimensions can create an understanding about the importance of the attachment for a foster placement. The reason these five dimensions were developed was to research the parenthood of foster carers based on the attachment theory. Therefore these became suitable as analytic tools for this study. The methodological approach was a qualitative content analysis, where we researched two autobiographies describing their experiences of growing up as foster children. The foster parents in these foster placements had the ability to establish all caregiving dimensions, which could be the reason why these foster homes were described as a successful foster placements.
