- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

- Abstract (Swedish)
- The purpose with this study is to examine Fiske et al. (2002) hypothesis that stereotypes are best described from without the two dimensions warmth/competence. The survey is a scaling study where the participants' (n = 102) similarity judgements from a set of social groups were analyzed using the statistical tool PCA (Principal Component Analysis). The result of the PCA proposes a four-dimensional solution; the result from a follow-up regression analysis, whose purpose was to support the study by identifying the dimensions, showed a strong link between dimension 1 and Fiskes et al. (2002) competence dimension, the relationship between dimension 2 and warmth was weaker and ambiguous, dimensions 3 and 4 could not be identified due to... (More)

More external criteria have to be required to determine which constructs the dimensions are characterized by. The results of the study do not support Fiskes assumption that warmth/competence would be the only dimensions, but nevertheless support the fact that the competence dimension would play an important role.
