(2018) PPTN76 20181Department of Psychology
- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- The aim of this study was to investigate whether a correlation could be found between patient rated alliance and improvement within the first three sessions of psychotherapy. The survey was conducted in a Swedish primary care setting and the treatment given was CBT as would normally be given. The study also investigated whether initial patient rated global health correlated with outcome. A consecutive selection of 29 patients who initiated treatment with either of the two authors between 170906-180124 were included in the study. 24 patients stayed in treatment for at least three sessions. Patients rated their global health in the first session using EQVAS. They also provided feedback about their psychological wellbeing and the working... (More)

They also provided feedback about their psychological wellbeing and the working alliance at each of the first three sessions using ORS and SRS. The authors used the manual for Feedback Informed Treatment (FIT) in their work using ORS and SRS. Correlation analysis were made for the variables of interest. No statistically significant correlation was found between alliance and early improvement, though a trend towards a correlation between an initially weaker alliance and stronger improvement was observed. This trend might be due to the fact that the authors have been actively focusing on improving the alliance for better outcome when patient’s alliance ratings have been lower. No correlation was found between initial global health and improvement during the first three sessions. Limitations are discussed and suggestions for further research are made. (Less)
