(2018) SKOK11 20181Department of Strategic Communication
- Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
- Abstract
- The aim of this study is to increase the understanding of how strategic narratives, through framing, as a strategy in modern influence campaigns. In a modern me-dia landscape, where multiple states are performing advanced information war-fare, the demand for studies on how disinformation can be debunked is higher than ever. Our empirical data has been collected through a single qualitative case study on the Skripal case, whereas the data analysis was conducted through fram-ing analysis and qualitative content analysis method. The empirical data has been analysed from the perspective of the transmitter and further put into context through framing theory, strategic narratives and Benoit’s Image Repair Theory. The results of the study showed... (More)

The results of the study showed that strategic narratives could be identified with-in the modern influence campaign. Furthermore, the narratives were shown to partly be deduced from crisis communication theory and framing theory. The re-sults of this study illustrate that strategies and tactics intertwine and which there-fore means that they can be interpreted in many different ways. The results fur-ther highlights future research and studies in how disinformation is debunked. (Less)
