Abstract
This paper examines the effect that aid and foreign direct investment have on poverty by assessing both their separate and interactive effects. We used a Generalized Method of Moments to analyse 107 countries during the time period 1987-2014 and measured the effects of aid and foreign direct investment as growth of inflow per capita. Our result indicates that separately growth in aid and in foreign direct investment have a poverty reducing effect but, on average, foreign direct investments show larger effects. On the other hand, a simultaneous growth in both inflows has an increasing effect on poverty.
