- The aim of this study was to investigate school counselors perspective and their view of the concept honour-related violence and oppression. We have explored how school counselors perspective are taken into consideration when they define the students who live under honour-related violence and oppression. Furthermore the study also aims to describe the school counselors comprehension on their work with these students. Semi-structured interviews were accomplished on 8 school counselors currently working in upper secondary schools in Skåne. The conclusion of this study is that the concept honour-related violence and oppression is a complex phenomenon that has several different definitions which are all bound to a context. The concept honour-related violence and oppression is not an extensive term since it does not include the real meaning of the term and since it restrain the school counselors. It is therefore argued whether honor-related violence and oppression is merely an aspect of domestic violence. (Less)
