Abstract
Footwear is complicated product with different material lamination, making shoe trash a big problem for our environment. This project is to find out what can be done for sustainability in the waterproof footwear industry, cooperating with TRETORN company in Sweden. Literature research, sketches and mockups have been done to understand and evaluate different eco solutions and design concepts. What has been found is, in waterproof footwear products, materials that are degradable and recyclable are often combined with other materials that should be disposed in a different way, making it costly to give these materials the right endings. Therefore seeking the possibility of seperating different shoe materials becomes a design task in this... (More)

Therefore seeking the possibility of seperating different shoe materials becomes a design task in this project, which at the end leads to an assembly shoe design. The design allows users to separate the footwear materials easily, hence some of the materials that are recyclable won’t end up in landfill or incineration. The project provides basic yet not comprehensive knowledge about sustainability in this area. (Less)
