Abstract
This thesis explores young Palestinian refugees’ perceptions of belonging and citizenship in Jordan. It aims to understand the learning processes through which they formulate their notions of belonging within the camp. More specifically, how these notions are negotiated and renegotiated- at the intersection with their status as Jordanian citizens- when they leave the camp. The empirical data is gathered through semi-structured interviews with eight young Palestinian refugees at four refugee camps in Jordan. The data were analyzed by drawing on theoretical concepts such as learning processes, place attachments, institutional discrimination, and cultural hegemony.
