- Abstract
- This project was based on a thesis about how product semiotics and aesthetics has defined a design standard for many products. Hence
the development for those products may have stagnated. The proj-
ect began by researching different products and domains to see how designers throughout the years had “thought outside the box”, to then try to see how much I could push towards that direction. The findings were that it is difficult to go outside the box without making the prod- ucts hard to comprehend. The essence became that you shouldn’t

The findings were that it is difficult to go outside the box without making the prod- ucts hard to comprehend. The essence became that you shouldn’t
override the semiotics but rather embrace it. The aesthetics however may be approached differently. My second phase was to research a
product or a domain of my interest, which I thought had the potential to be further developed. I finally ended up in the kitchen. The findings were that there are an unnecessary amount of kitchen products, they are too big, and there are too many products with the same base
feature. After trying out a few concepts that addressed the different
problems I ended up investigating the issue of the amount of prod-
ucts with the same base feature.
The result became a rotational device used for multiple purposes,
based on a technology never before used in kitchen appliances, with a new way of ensuring the cooking results. (Less)
