Since the establishment of the two major actors on the market of digital health, Kry and Min Doktor, has there been a need to understand this new type of health care. Based on available data the aim is to obtain a deeper understanding about the utilization of digital technique in health care. A pivotal part of the thesis is to construe how these new visits relate to a health care system where equity is of major importance. Notable variables such as socioeconomic status, demography, need for health care, and the access to primary care.
To be able to shed light to the thesis questions and its purpose, the method will consist of cross-sectional analysis, with aggregated data from 270 Swedish municipalities. To understand better the influence of known factors for health care consumption, it is conducted a multivariate regression analysis, using linear OLS- regression. The data pertains to the period of 2017.
The main finding of the thesis is that municipalities with a higher net median income also have a higher utilization of digital health care. When it comes to the importance’s of adjusting for need for health care, the thesis points out that it seems this variable have the contrary effect it ought to have, where municipalities with a better health has a higher health utilization. Other important findings are that women and younger people have a considerable part of the found utilization, which is in parallel to traditional health care consumption. (Less)
