E-handelns effekter på sysselsättningen inom detaljhandeln

Innebär den ökade e-handeln ett hot mot sysselsättningen inom detaljhandeln och vad är det som orsakar att e-handeln blir allt mer populärt? Frågorna kommer att analyseras i denna uppsats, där den största vikten läggs på den kortsiktiga effekten. Analysen kommer att göras med hjälp av Schumpeters teori om kreativ förstörelse. Det är också denna teorin som lägger grunden till uppsatsens två hypoteser, att e-handeln växer på grund av utvecklandet av ny teknologi vilket i sin tur orsakar en nedgång i sysselsättningen inom detaljhandeln.

Den data som undersöks omfattar 29 enskilda europeiska länder samt samtliga EU-länder sammanslagna. Resultatet av den första regressionen, som ska förklara sysselsättningen med hjälp av e-handeln, visar att det inte går att dra några signifikanta slutsatser om effekter mellan växande e-handel och sysselsättningen inom detaljhandeln. I den andra regressionen, som förklarar e-handeln och dess tillväxt, visar resultaten att ju mer ny teknologi ökar, desto snabbare kommer e-handeln att växa. I resultatdiskussionen anknyts regressionerna till tidigare forskning och teorier kring ämnet, men den viktiga slutsatsen som görs är att hypotesen gällande e-handelns effekt på sysselsättningen inom detaljhandeln kan förkastas. Detta innebär att det enligt denna analys inte går att visa att den ökade e-handeln har en signifikant påverkan på sysselsättningen. (Less)

How does the growth of e-commerce affect employment in retail trade, and what is the cause of e-commerce becoming more popular? This theory is also the basis of the hypothesis, the hypothesis being that e-commerce is growing due to the development of new technology, which in turn should causes a decrease in retail trade employment.

How does the growth of e-commerce affect employment in retail trade, and what is the cause of e-commerce becoming more popular? These questions will be analyzed in this essay, and the main focus will be on the short-term effects of this. Schumpeters theory of creative destruction will be used for this analysis. This theory is also the basis of the hypothesis, the hypothesis being that e-commerce is growing due to the development of new technology, which in turn should causes a decrease in retail trade employment.

In the second regression, that explains e-commerce and its growth, the result shows that as the technological rate increases, e-commerce will grow even faster. In the result’s discussion, the regressions are linked to previous research and theories on this subject, however, the most important conclusion is that the hypothesis of this essay regarding e-commerce affect on employment in retail trade can be rejected. According to this, it is not possible to show that the increase in e-commerce has a statistically significant effect on employment in retail trade. (Less)
