Civilsamhällets strävan efter demokrati
(2019) In Civilsamhällets strävan efter demokrati STVA22 20182Department of Political Science
- Abstract
- After Ukraine declared independence from the soviet union in 1991 the ambition has been to become a democratic country. The democratisation process has been inefficient, due to the lack of democratic principles and an unstable political climate. In the political discussion the focus has been on establishing a democracy and if Ukraine should develop a closer cooperation with Russia or the EU, this has deepened the ethnic disagreement in Ukraine. The civil society in Ukraine has repeated times shown that it acts as a counterweight to the state by demanding accountability from the politicians. After this paper we can conclude that the civil society because of its dedication has contributed to democratic changes.
