- Abstract
- The importance of religion in the contemporary society is viewed as decreasing, however, it is significant. Especially, since patients within palliative care tend to turn to their religion for support and comfort. The aim of this thesis has been to examine social workers experience of religion within practical social work in palliative care. Qualitative semi-structured interviewing was used as method. The sample consisted of social workers who work within palliative care. Five social workers were interviewed. The main findings are that religion is an important factor in the practical social work within palliative care both for the social worker, the patient and its relatives.
