- Abstract
- This paper tries to find out how New Public Management reforms have shaped the healthcare public administration policy of Region Skåne during the chosen timeframe of 2015-2017 with a background starting in 2008. The paper also tries to explain how the officials at the chosen public administration have seen their professional role changed and how this has affected the consumers of the public administration. The paper uses a methodological approach based on the work of Graham T. Allison, Essence of Decision, and a theoretical use of Christopher Hoods definition of New Public Management, dictated in, A Public Administration for All Seasons?. - This paper tries to find out how New Public Management reforms have shaped the healthcare public administration policy of Region Skåne during the chosen timeframe of 2015-2017 with a background starting in 2008. The paper also tries to explain how the officials at the chosen public administration have seen their professional role changed and how this has affected the consumers of the public administration. The paper uses a methodological approach based on the work of Graham T. Allison, Essence of Decision, and a theoretical use of Christopher Hoods definition of New Public Management, dictated in, A Public Administration for All Seasons?. The paper concludes that reforms launched during the chosen timeframe have indeed been shaped by ideas related to New Public Management in a wide verity of aspects. The paper concludes that the officials have truly seen a change in the professional role and that this has affected the way they deal with the consumers of the public administration. Through the methodological and theoretical approach, the paper has found that the rational goal of politicians is not in line with the goals of the officials and the consumers and that the political control has changed how the public administration acts.
