The purpose of this study is to map and analyse the discrepancy between legal norms, the framework of the Swedish Football Association and the social norms that exist within supporter groups, regarding the use of illegal pyrotechnics in Swedish football. Despite this the use of pyrotechnics still does not seem to disappear, with groups of supporters claiming the use of pyrotechnics as atmosphere enhancing and a part of the supporter culture. Using interrogation protocols, statements from supporter groups and the legal and sporting frameworks the study aims to analyse the discrepancy between these parties, the underlying motives for the different parties as well as discussing a possible future solution to the problem.
