Abstract
The purpose of this thesis has been to challenge the idea of how the existing market for brewery equipment should look by creating a modular brewery. Hopefully this could reduce both shipping and costs in the future, as many who buy a brewing system for home use already have a vessel to brew with. The execution has followed Ulrich and Eppinger's product development methodology. By breaking down the problem into sub-problems, it has enabled an overview of the product to determine the need for different functions. The use of different grading systems and rankings has since resulted in sections appropriate for modules and solutions to the sub-problems. A questionnaire was constructed, and interviews were conducted, these resulted in needs... (More)

A questionnaire was constructed, and interviews were conducted, these resulted in needs that guided the project along. Using additive manufacturing, 3d models became a physical product. To develop the product, several different tests and experiments have been conducted. These have resulted in modifications and increased understanding of the product. Finally, a system for regulating the processes has been developed and implemented using microcontrollers from Arduino and Amica. The result was a preliminary study into what a modular brewing system could be, intended to cover the need, equipment wise, for both beginner and advanced brewers. That the brewer, through its modular structure, could grow with the product and develop the equipment at the same rate as herself. (Less)
