This study investigated if child participation increased with the use of a new working material with a focus on improving child participation in child care investigations. In addition to this, this study also investigated how the relationship between social worker and client was affected with the addition of a new working material. To research if this working material made child participation higher in child care investigations and if it had an impact on the relationship, interviews were held with social workers using this working material while working at child welfare service at the social services in southern Sweden. Furthermore, in addition to interviews with these social workers, an interview was held with the person in charge of user surveys at this particular social services and a content analysis was done of the user manual concerning the working material. To analyze the results, the study used theories of childhood and child participation and theories of power in social work. The results of the study show that it is difficult to tell if the children's participation has increased due to the new working material, but the results show that the premise of increasing child participation has increased with the new working material.
