Sustainable occupations and health in a life course perspective
Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
Background: Mental illness is a growing health issue. Rehabilitation in a natural environment has been shown to contribute to increased health for people with severe stress. It is important to do a literature review to ascertain what research there is today on rehabilitation in a natural environment. Aim: The object of the review is to map research on rehabilitation in natural environment for people with severe stress from an occupational therapy perspective. Method: A literature review with 13 articles including both qualitative, quantitative and a mixed method were reviewed. The articles were analysed with an integrated analysis based on Model Of Human Occupation and International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health.... (More)

Method: A literature review with 13 articles including both qualitative, quantitative and a mixed method were reviewed. The articles were analysed with an integrated analysis based on Model Of Human Occupation and International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. Results: It was confirmed that there are generally few studies in the area but above all that it is inadequate in garden therapy which is a separate area in occupational therapy. It was also confirmed that rehabilitation in a natural environment has a positive impact on physical and mental health. The rehabilitation effort motivated return to work and increased the individual’s creativity during rehabilitation and in everyday life. Conclusion: It was found that rehabilitation in a natural environment had a positive impact on health, but primary studies are scarce. The occupational therapist expertise on creativity among other things and the holistic perspective were also found valuable. (Less)
