- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
- Abstract
- This study investigated the relationship between extraversion and resilience, resilience and emotion regulation, extraversion and emotion regulation, and the possibility of emotion regulation as a mediator in the relationship between extraversion and resilience. The researched population in this study consisted of students from Lund’s University in Sweden. This population has not been researched in this type of study before. The students (n = 253) partook in a survey consisting of three parts, the first part was about extraversion, the second about resilience and the third about emotion regulation. The results showed that there was a medium positive correlation between extraversion and resilience. In turn, resilience correlated with the... (More)

In turn, resilience correlated with the use of adaptive emotion regulation strategies, i.e. positive refocusing, positive reappraisal, refocus on planning and putting into perspective. Furthermore, extraversion was shown to have a positive correlation with the use of positive refocusing and positive reappraisal. A mediation analysis showed that positive refocusing did not have any mediational effect on the relationship between extraversion and resilience. However, the mediation analysis did show that the use of positive reappraisal partially mediated the relationship between extraversion and resilience. The results were discussed and compared to previous research. Further studies should be done on the proposed mediation model in order to determine if it needs refining. (Less)
