- Abstract (Swedish)
- This study aimed to investigate the relationship between positively valued character strengths and psychological and social workplace factors in Swedish working life, on a sample of 43 young adults aged 19-29, with fixed-term employment. Furthermore, the study explored whether the relationship between these variables differed between men and women.
While using positive psychology as a theoretical perspective, a quantitative internet-based questionnaire was created; consisting of Values in Action - Inventory of Strength, which measures character control scores, together with QPSNordic, which measures psychological and social workplace factors.
The results showed that no unanimous conclusions can be drawn between the general relationship... While using positive psychology as a theoretical perspective, a quantitative internet-based questionnaire was created; consisting of Values in Action - Inventory of Strength, which measures character control scores, together with QPSNordic, which measures psychological and social workplace factors.
The results showed that no unanimous conclusions can be drawn between the general relationship between character strengths and psychological and social workplace factors. This, because the study showed both negative and positive associations. Differences were found within the general relationship, as well as for men and women separately, between specific virtues and specific levels of psychological and social workplace factors.
The study emphasized the relevance of further studies of the relationship between character strengths together with men and women in the modern workplace. Furthermore, the authors believe that this study, with its theoretical perspective and by using a descriptive approach, has showed the complexity in the areas of character strengths, social and psychological workplace factors, men, women, and fixed-term forms of employment in relation to young adults, which can also be explored in future research in the field.
