Abstract
Due to insufficient knowledge on preschool teacher reporting obligations, studies show that fewer reports are made regarding children that might need help. The aim of the study was to illustrate how preschool teachers interpret and apply the law on reporting obligations in preschool activities and to illustrate the collaboration between preschool and social services. What does preschool teachers think about the law on reporting obligations? How does the Act on reporting duty apply in the practical work at preschools? And how do preschool teachers experience collaboration with social services?

Due to insufficient knowledge on preschool teacher reporting obligations, studies show that fewer reports are made regarding children that might need help. The aim of the study was to illustrate how preschool teachers interpret and apply the law on reporting obligations in preschool activities and to illustrate the collaboration between preschool and social services. What does preschool teachers think about the law on reporting obligations? How does the Act on reporting duty apply in the practical work at preschools? And how do preschool teachers experience collaboration with social services?

The method chosen for this study was qualitative interviews with four preschool teachers and one preschool principal. The interviews were held with respondents from Stockholm and Skåne. The theory chosen for the study was Hans Berglind ́s theory of action and was used to analyze the interviews.

We found that being able to interpret the law is a prerequisite for being able to apply it in practice. Lack of education is one of the contributing aspects that leads to fewer reports being made. Therefore, we conclude that more education should be implemented. The results of the study indicate that the collaboration between preschool and social services is insufficient. We conclude that collaboration is something that could be improved to create better conditions for preschool teachers. In order for the reporting system to work more efficiently, consequently making the children of our society safer. (Less)
