The purpose is to investigate if and how the Europarties’ reactions to their members’ non-compliance with fundamental values have changed over time. A content analysis is used to analyze statements by the Europarties, which constituted the reactions. To analyze the trends and tendencies over time, 12 actions of non-compliance by a member states between 2000 and 2019 is selected. The result indicates that the Europarties’ reactions have generally changed over time and that they have become less inclined to impose social and/or material sanctions on their members. The conclusions support the assumption that the Europarties have become more accepting of their members’ non-compliance with the fundamental values over time. (Less)
