The material has been four national day speeches held by King Carl XVI Gustaf on the years which his three children got married. The study concludes that marriage is a central part of the discourse because of the Kings way to make it a national concern. Though in contrast to this was the speeches from the year his son got married which when examined shows that the King, instead of talking about his son's marriage, talks about things like citizenship and the Swedish flag. Overall the study has also shown that the discourse is hegemonic and includes some internal discourse conflicts about who should be included in the nation. (Less)
