- Abstract
- This study has examined how six different people who are new in Sweden perceive Swedish culture and values and how these values contrast with what they bring from their home countries. The informants are from Eritrea, Sudan, Syria, Iran and Afghanistan and were interviewed to share their thoughts and experiences on this. The answers were analyzed using theories of ethnicity, identity and integration policy. What became clear is that there is much to be appreciated in their new country, including political freedom and a generous welfare system, but regarding the social climate, there is much that is difficult to adapt to. - Denna studie har undersökt hur sex olika personer som är nya i Sverige uppfattar den svenska kulturen och dess värderingar och hur dessa värderingar står i kontrast till det de har med sig från sitt hemland. Informanterna, som kommer från Eritrea, Sudan, Syrien, Iran och Afghanistan, intervjuades för att dela sina tankar och erfarenheter kring detta. Svaren analyserades med hjälp av teorier kring etnicitet, identitet och integrationspolitik.
