The Criminal Injuries Compensation Act, however, consists a paragraph which restricts the instances where compensation is deemed unjustifiable. The essay’s purpose is therefore to study the enforcement and interpretation of aforementioned paragraph with the aim to increase knowledge on how political influences play into the juridical practice. This is accomplished with an empirical study, where experts within the subject of victim compensation participates in qualitative interviews. The empirical findings proved how the relationship between politics and law is heavily intertwined and that it is particularly palpable in the implementation and distribution of victim compensation. The analysis and conclusion presents themes of social construction, idealisation of victims and touches on the debate on how justice and moral places within the Swedish justice system. (Less)
