Abstract
Background: People with gender dysphoria go through a mental and/or physical change. A change also occurs in the activities they perform, meaningful activities are in some cases deselected or adapted due to discomfort of their own body or how they are treated by others.
Aim: To investigate how adults with gender dysphoria, who have transformed into their desired gender, experience activities in everyday life.
Method: Qualitative cross-sectional study with semi-structured interviews. Eight participants who transformed into their desired gender were recruited, of which three were male-to-female, two female-to-male and three non-binary. A qualitative content analysis was used to identify themes and categories.
Results: The participants... (More)

Results: The participants described the activities in everyday life that were perceived as meaningful and that strengthened their identity. The environment and the social context were important factors in relation to which activities the participants chose to perform. They also described the challenges in everyday life that they experienced, both based on gender dysphoria and other limitations.
Conclusion: The study confirms previous research regarding occupational deprivation in the target group, but it is not the only focus of the research. It also highlights contributing factors for the performance of meaningful activities. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
