Abstract
The aim of this research was to get an understanding of what key behaviours successful leaders possess and how they use them as tools in their daily leadership. An objective was also to see if there was a relation between the leaders attributes and the key behaviours and characteristics that define transformational leadership. The study was qualitative and carried out by performing semi-structured interviews with six different managers that lead teams at the company E.ON. These leaders were selected by examining an employee survey that E.ON uses called Winningtemp which measures temperature in the teams where all of the participants in this study had received a high result from their coworkers. The theories that laid the foundation of this... (More)

The theories that laid the foundation of this study were fixated on transformational leadership by Burns and Bass and its different components. The results from the interviews were analyzed with an inductive, thematic approach which resulted in one main theme and three sub-themes. The main theme was communication, and the sub-themes were compassion, connectedness and clarity. All of the managers in this research practiced their leadership with a clear focus on having regular dialogues with their employees. This was to get to know them and so the managers could figure out how to lead the individuals in the team successfully. These four different themes were the key behaviours found in the leaders. The study also indicated that these managers practiced transformational leadership and thereby, it was one of the reasons that they were appreciated by the coworkers. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
Intervjuernas... (More)

(Less)
