- Abstract
- This study assesses whether foreign direct investment affects corruption in the recipient countries. The case that we have chosen to use is foreign direct investment from China to sub-Saharan African countries between the years 2003-2016. In total we used 44 African countries for the purpose of this study. Two methods were used, a quantitative one and a qualitative one. The quantitative study measures the amount of foreign direct investment the sub-Saharan countries received from China as well as the amount of corruption. We then looked at the data from the quantitative study to use two countries for the qualitative study, where we used a most similar systems design.
