Abstract
One clear thing is that the judicial system is not the solution to the narcotic problems. It became apparent that both countries, i.e., Sweden and the U.S., struggle to allocate resources that are the most effective properly. Both countries have, over the past decade, taken both similar and different narcotic approaches. The Swedish drug policy is much more cohesive than that of the U.S., but that is not surprising considering it is much easier to be a small nation with a reasonably small population and one body that can make laws. The U.S. is much more diverse in how they have handled the narcotics issue over time, yet they still have some similarities with Sweden, which this paper explores.
