Abstract (Swedish)
Resultatet... (More)

Abstract
Imagery rescripting (ImRs) as a treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
(OCD) is a relatively uninvestigated intervention as compared to Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), which, due to extensive research is the golden standard psychotherapy for OCD. However, new findings in small sample studies have shown ImRs to be a promising treatment for obsessive and compulsive disorders, as it has earlier for other diagnostic states like health anxiety, social phobia among others. This study was carried out as a one-session treatment of 8 individuals meeting diagnostic criteria for OCD according to DSM-5. Due to a lack of a control group the study was conducted with a within-subjects design where comparisons were carried out between... (More)

Due to a lack of a control group the study was conducted with a within-subjects design where comparisons were carried out between measurements before and after treatment. The results showed that ImRs had a significantly reducing effect on the participants intrusive images, consisting of both early and present images. The study showed a slight but significant reduction in symptoms measured with Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory Scale (YBOCS).
The limitations were mainly the small sample and the absence of a control
group, but also the short baseline. In conclusion ImRs may be a promising intervention for treating OCD, but further research is needed with larger samples, with a control group and a comparison between ImRs and ERP. (Less)
